After months of planning and negotiations since I last wrote about the subject,I am happy to announce that the partnership between Jewish Hospital &St. Mary’s Healthcare,the University of Louisville Hospital/James Graham Brown Cancer Center,and Saint Joseph Health System has come to fruition as each of the respective Boards and parent organizations have reached an agreement to merge (press release copied below). On a few occasions,I have watched the CBS TV show,“Undercover Boss”with intrigue. For those who haven’t seen the show,the basic premise involves the CEO of a large organization going into disquise and working with the front-line employees doing the daily jobs that make their organizations tick. Most of you know that meetings are an everyday fact of my life. From meetings with our staff,physicians and community members to development initiatives,quality improvement and everything in between,all is fair game in my day-to-day life.
